Nice!

Oh yes, we were in Nice. I was there in 2001 with my dear friend Amy and honestly the city is exactly as delightful as it was then! I found some new areas to explore, however. A little mountain! I climbed up and at the top was a fortress and a waterfall, not to mention probably the best views of Nice. I do not understand why everyone in the whole continent of Europe doesn’t want to live on the Mediterranean. I mean, the pictures speak for themselves. And we had a sensational afterparty at a bar called Ghost with an amazing DJ and delicious champagne. (if I can recover any pictures from that night I’ll definitely post them up)

Hello From Toulouse!

Woah, we have had a whirlwind few days. After Strasbourg we went to Toulouse which was an absolutely adorable place. We stayed in a hotel right in the middle of the “old town”, and I have perhaps never seen streets so winding and tiny but packed with people, shops, and restaurants. Wow. It was delightful, despite the rainy day-off we spent there. Check out the beautiful river Garonne.



I went to the Antiques Museum and learned of the vast history which is amazing. So many thousands of years were under my feet. My favorite thing was that the museum itself was built on ruins from the first century, and in the basement I could actually walk through the walls and tombs. Wow! Something about many many years of history, walls that people built with their hands 2000 years ago, it chills me to be amongst it.

This city was a college town, and it was totally packed with apartments, shops, and chic little dining places. But it was very common that right next to these new buildings would be an ancient structure. Check out this archway and tower stuck between two apartment buildings.



It’s a beautiful life and France has got it going on!

Hello From Strasbourg!

We have been having very fun and exciting French shows! The fans are great and the towns are lovely. I wish we had a little more time during the days to see these adorable French cities. Really beautiful!!!

So, I thought I’d write a little bit about the coolness of the set-up and tear-down of the Moby show. It is absolutely what these guys do every day we have a show! This picture is of the set-up, at 11AM. The lighting guys and riggers worked from 9AM to get what you see so far, the set and lights. Now the backline guys are putting together all the instruments and electronics.

Hello From Fiery France!

Well, just kidding. We have not seen anything burning yet, and as of last night our bus is still in-tact! Oh boy. We have our first French show tonight. We’ll have to see how these fans compare to the Germans, who were awesome. I took a little walk today to see the beautifulCathedral of Bordeaux and this city is very enchanting. I would love to come back and visit, the streets are adorable, small and French cafes and tea shops, the weather was beautiful, and I forgot my camera! So sorry. I’ll do better next time.



Yesterday we had our 20 hour bus ride. It was fun but got long at the end after it got dark. The weather was rainy and sunny at the same time so during the daylight the ride was very peaceful. These are pictures of us in the front upstairs lounge of the bus, as we were plodding along, and the brightest rainbow I have ever seen in my life. Unfortunately it doesn’t show up quite accurately being shot from upstairs on a moving bus with tinted windows. Ahh, but you get the idea. Tour life is as always wonderful. Moby has requested practice equipment to be set up backstage so we can entertain ourselves before the shows. Oh it can get pretty silly with me on the drums, Scott on vocals, Moby on keyboards, etc. They are up there now and I think I better go see how it’s going. But love to you all!

Berlin

Hello!!

We made it to Berlin. And when we got here we were informed that we had two days off to start! Something about the venue moving. What?!?!? So yesterday I recovered by watching two movies and eating and sleeping. Today I went to the musikinstrument museum. Lovely, but less than thrilling. Lots of old pianos and guitars and violins. Not a single word in the entire museum was in English but 'please do not touch the instruments'. Great. My mind was enlightened anyway by just looking at the instruments. Actually, now that I think about it, it was a really frustrating experience. All these delicious pianos and harpsichords and clavinets and organs and not a sound to be heard. My fingers were burning to play SOMETHING, and when I was sure I was in the portion of the museum that was hands-on, as soon as I reached out my hand an angry beard barked German at me. I left soon afterwards, a bit more than frustrated. I would do things differntly if I had such a museum. Ohhh, I am worrying how I will be able to sleep tonight because I slept a solid 14 hours last night with real difficulty waking up at 2:00. Ahh, such is the jetlagged life.

Ok, I can't wait to report something exciting!

Halloween
