South America...
So there are some strange things about South America so far. Almost everywhere we go there are people standing on the highways, streets, interstates, lanes, during the most heavy traffic jams you can imagine, wandering in and out of lanes of cars, selling everything from bunches of bananas and cotton candy to national flags and animal skins. Whoa, dangerous (for them, no?) and weird! Wow.
We are in Santiago Chile now. Quite a beautiful city - clean and modern.
The hotel is one of those giant downtown kinds of hotels with the glass elevators that shoot up hundreds of feet in seconds and you can watch the people in the lobby getting smaller and smaller as you go up, or feel like you’re on the free fall at Six Flags as you go down. Ahh! We ate a nice Japanese meal when we arrived in Santiago for Moby’s birthday (9-11). Yes, he is another year older – a decade even. I’ll let y’all research his age if you don’t already know. Spring chicken!
The show in Santiago was outrageous! I think it was our largest one yet, people PACKED into this giant warehouse, wall to wall. We had an incredible after party for Moby’s birthday after the show in a beautiful bar with nice food and drinks, ahh.
It got pretty wild; well it must have because by the time we all looked at our watches we realized it was well after 5:30 AM, so we headed to Moby’s giant presidential suite for more. I think I went to bed at 8:30. It’s occasionally good to have fun like that once in a while! And all in the name of a happy birthday.
We spent the next day recovering - didn’t wake up until 3:30 PM. We made a little trip to the mall and met for Thai food that evening. Today we are recording, mainly playing around in a cool Chilean recording studio. It is winter here -spring starts on September 21st, so it’s quite cold and I find myself buying scarves and hats. But awesome. To Sao Paulo tomorrow. This stuff is amazing!
